The North Bellevue Community Center has been awarded a $220,000 King County grant to expand its continuing mission as a hub of activity for older adults.
NBCC offers a diverse range of programs and services, including cultural and performing arts, dance, classes, workshops, sports, health/fitness, wellness activities, as well as trips/tours, drop-in sessions and lunch programs. The community center also coordinates older adult activities at other city facilities throughout Bellevue.
With the grant, covering the next three years, NBCC will be able to provide more programming specifically for older adults, such as classes and events. Some will be free or low-cost.
NBCC is part of the King County Senior Center Network. The grant – awarded through the King County Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy – is intended to support community hubs for seniors and older adults that offer inclusive programming.
Fifty-one agencies applied for grants, requesting over $30 million in funding out of $16 million that was available. NBCC is among 39 agencies who received an award.
