The City of Bellevue closed the Meydenbauer Bay Park swimming area Friday, Aug. 13, due to high bacteria levels in the water. Meydenbauer Bay Park is located at 9899 Lake Washington Blvd. NE.
The closure of the swimming area comes at the direction of Public Health – Seattle & King County. King County routinely tests water quality at freshwater swimming beaches throughout the area. The swimming area will be reopened when testing indicates that bacteria counts return to a low-risk level.
Although the beach is closed to swimming, the park is still open. Signs at the park alert visitors to the closure of the swimming area.
Swimming is still open at Bellevue’s other beach parks – Chism, Clyde, Enatai and Newcastle. Lifeguards are at all of those parks noon-7 p.m., seven days a week.
