For a great job behind the camera, a Bellevue resident got to stand in front of one with the mayor Tuesday. Mike Carper, who submitted the winning picture in a recent city photo contest on Twitter, met Mayor John Stokes at City Hall, and they posed together with Mike's four-month-old son Dean.
People who live and work in Bellevue were invited to submit photos of the city from Nov. 24 to Jan. 5. More than a few did, giving the city some excellent images, particularly of Bellevue's beautiful parks. Carper's winning shot was in that vein, a colorful picture of the Tateuchi Pavilion at the Bellevue Botanical Garden during Garden d'Lights.
Carper, a software developer, lives in the Tam O'Shanter neighborhood with his son and wife Michelle. He took the winning picture with the camera he got as a present for Michelle.
