Count everyone in your household as of April 1
April 1 is Census Day. That means when completing the 2020 Census, you’ll count everyone living in your household as of April 1, 2020. It takes just 10 minutes to fill out the census and have a meaningful impact on your community for the next 10 years.
Accurately counting people through the census is how funding is distributed — for things such as schools, affordable housing, public transit, emergency services, hospitals and health care. As we all grapple with the COVID-19 health crisis, we’re reminded of how important it is to understand the needs of our community. Census statistics are a critical way to know what resources may be needed in urgent times like these.
It has never been easier to respond to the census within the safety of your own home — whether online, over the phone or by mail — all without having to meet a census taker.
So, while we all stay indoors and work together to protect the health and safety of our community, it’s a great time to complete the census and ensure the strength of our community continues for the next 10 years.
As of April 1, less than 46 percent of Bellevue had responded to the 2020 Census. To learn more about how census participation shapes the community for the next ten years, check out Bellevue’s 2020 Census web page.
