A trio of mail thieves received a first-class delivery to the King County Jail Monday morning, courtesy of the Bellevue Police Department.
Shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, a patrol officer patrolling the 100 block of 98th Avenue Northeast in West Bellevue noticed three suspicious individuals walking down the street. The officer stopped to talk to the three subjects, one of whom was carrying a package. The officer also noticed mail scattered on the ground around the subjects.
The three were detained for investigation of mail theft. One of the subjects had a felony arrest warrant for theft. Further investigation revealed that the suspects had been stealing mail in the neighborhood. The suspect carrying the package had a key for a stolen car parked in the area. Police found evidence of theft, vehicle prowling and drug activity in the car.
The three subjects, a 27-year-old Seattle man, a 30-year-old Fall City man and a 42 year-old Gig Harbor woman, were all arrested and booked into the King County Jail for investigation of theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of motor vehicle theft tools and obstruction.
Police returned the stolen vehicle to its owner and hand-delivered the stolen mail back to the proper addresses. Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stayed them from the swift completion of their appointed rounds
