The City of Bellevue will host the final First Friday Bellwether Art Walk of 2016 on Friday, Oct. 7, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The Bellwether Exhibition & Art Walk will end on Sunday, Oct. 9 so this is one of the last chances to see the sculptures and performances by artists featuring virtual reality movies, live theater, inhabited instruments and more!
Performances will be at City Hall, Compass Plaza and the Bellevue Arts Museum. The first 50 people to arrive at City Hall Plaza will enjoy free pizza and soda.
The lunchtime activities include:
- Stranger Award winner Tracy Rector debuting a virtual-reality film;
- Natasha Marin and her viral social art project Reparations.me;
- UW DXArts PhD candidate Chun Shao with her wearable tech/art;
- live theater by Ladan Yalzadeh;
- kinetic instruments by Lelavision;
- dance and live video by Juju Kunsanagi; and
- reclaiming the lost art of letter writing with "The Letter Farmer."
These events coincide with the Bellevue Arts Museum's First Friday program with free admission. The museum has extended hours, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., and offers special lectures, tours, presentations and programming throughout the day.
Bellwether is a juried exhibition that features a variety of artworks presented in public places from City Hall to Downtown Park. The exhibition features sculptures and installations from 32 artists from around the world.
