Construction on Lake Hills Boulevard to replace an aging culvert at Kelsey Creek will begin the last week of April with intermittent lane closures followed by a full two-month closure starting in early June.
What to expect
Travelers should plan ahead as construction begins in late April. Work will begin with intermittent lane closures on Lake Hills Boulevard between 151st and 154th avenues Southeast, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone during active construction.
In early June, the project will enter its most intensive phase, requiring a full closure of that section of Lake Hills Boulevard for approximately two months. Clearly marked detour routes will be in place to guide drivers around the closure.
“Starting in late April, people will begin to see changes in how they travel through this area,” said Utilities Director Lucy Liu. “We are asking the community to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow posted detours so crews can complete this work as safely and quickly as possible.”
This work is part of a larger effort to replace aging infrastructure and reduce long-term flood risk in the area. For updates, schedules and detour maps, visit Kelsey Creek Culvert.
