Selected crosswalks around Bellevue painted colorful designs are on the front page of the Fall-Winter issue of It’s Your City, which is going to Bellevue mailboxes this week. These "Creative Crosswalks" featuring designs by local artists, are made for walking and rolling, and Transportation planners are testing whether the art makes them safer.
Other highlights of the newsletter include:
- Drones as First Responders: Evolving its use of unmanned aerial systems, the city has launched a one-year pilot program in which UAS are sent to incident locations ahead of police or fire emergency responders to collect key information, including whether further response is even necessary.
- Great Neighborhoods: Neighborhood area planning, intended to address changing needs and conditions at the micro-local level, continues in Lake Hills and West Lake Sammamish.
- Diversity Plan Open House: Community members will learn about the city’s progress delivering equitable services, including a progress report on implementation of the Diversity Advantage Plan 2035, at a Nov. 19 open house.
- Council Corner: In her column, Councilmember Lynne Robinson discusses major investments in affordable housing the city has made this year to advance our new strategy.
The next issue of It’s Your City will come out in March. If you have questions or comments, please contact the editor, Claude Iosso. And for more information on Bellevue’s coordinated communications program, please visit Communications.
