Eastside travelers should start planning alternate routes for their weekend driving, as northbound Interstate 405 through Bellevue will shut down this weekend for critical repairs and maintenance work.
The highway will close at 10 p.m. Crews will begin reopening northbound I-405 at 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12. All lanes and ramps, including the SR 167 ramp, will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. This work is weather-dependent.
The state Department of Transportation urges drivers to "take five" -- and take five minutes to check WSDOT's travel resources and map out weekend strategies, particularly drivers heading to the virtually sold out Mariners game on Saturday to watch Ken Griffey Jr.'s induction into the Mariners' Hall of Fame.
The surface streets in Bellevue will be open for traffic, so the city's commercial center will be accessible throughout the weekend.
