Gary Stroutsos, a flutist who’s performed at the White House, will perform a mix of world and Native American music with percussionist David Revelli in a free outdoor concert at the Bellevue Youth Theatre amphitheater, 16051 NE 10th St., on Saturday, July 29, 7-9 p.m.
Stroutsos, who is also a storyteller, played on the soundtrack of Ken Burns’ PBS documentary, “Lewis and Clark: Journey of the Corps of Discovery.” His meditative music and time-honored stories evoke varied lands and cultures.
Originally trained as a Jazz flutist, Stroutsos’ work has branched out to include American Indian music, Chinese, Cuban and American Jazz stylings.
Stroutsos has brought his music and his stories to audiences throughout North America, as well as in Japan and Korea. His work on “Lewis and Clark” led to a command performance at the White House for President Bill Clinton.
The concert is made possible with help from the Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation. For more information, call 425-452-7155.
