A group of subject experts, including police detectives and a county prosecutor, will speak and take questions at a crime prevention forum on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 6-8:30 p.m., at the Bellevue Library, 1111 110th Avenue N.E.
Police Chief Linda Pillo will speak, along with the following experts:
- Phone/internet/Fraud - Detective James Brack, Bellevue Police;
- Burglary/car prowl and car theft - Detective Richard Chinn, Bellevue Police;
- Drug abuse and prevention - Tina Morales, Youth Eastside Services;
- Gang Awareness and prevention - Detective Jeff Christiansen, Bellevue Police;
- Top-priority traffic laws - Lieutenant Marcia Harnden, Bellevue Police;
- Consequences of committing crimes for juveniles - Jimmy Hung, King County Senior Deputy Prosecutor; and
- Chinese Information Center, Director Alan Lai.
The second half of the program will be devoted to facilitated group discussions on how to protect yourself and avoid being a victim of crime. In addition, there will be resource information available.
Although crime affects everyone, immigrants, limited English speakers, senior citizens and people with disabilities are even more vulnerable. The program is free, but reservations are recommended. Please RSVP to Khenry@bellevuewa.gov or 425 452-7886.
