Bellevue's new East Link pact with Sound Transit, the city's emergence as a tourist destination and the hiring of police and fire chiefs are featured in the June issue of the resident newsletter It's Your City.
A revised agreement with Sound Transit signed in April, which ensures the project meets the needs of the city and the region, merits both a council column by Deputy Mayor Kevin Wallace and a front-page article. A report from Visit Bellevue Washington, which manages tourism marketing for the city, notes that Bellevue visitors spent $736 million last year.
It's Your City comes out three times a year -- in February, June and October, and is mailed to all of the residential and business addresses in the city. Other stories covered this month include:
- An introduction to the trio of new employees who will lead the city's Diversity Advantage initiative;
- Articles featuring commentary from the new fire chief, Mark Risen, and the new police chief, Steve Mylett; and
- A caution from the city fire marshal to leave fireworks to the professionals, especially in this already hot, dry summer.
