Last Friday escapee Wendell Downs was captured after being on the run for a month.
Recaptured along with Downs were his girlfriend Tanjanique Q. Hillis, and an accomplice, Denisha R. Dunston. Bellevue Police Special Enforcement Team (SET) and detectives worked long hours to locate Downs, who was being assisted with evading police by both Hillis and Dunston.
Last Friday morning, officers determined Downs' location and tried to initiate a traffic stop after following a vehicle with Downs, Hillis and Dunston in it. Downs abruptly stopped the car in Renton and fled on foot, jumping fences and ultimately being captured by one of Bellevue's SET officers and Renton police officer.
The two women sped off after Downs jumped out of the vehicle but were stopped and arrested a few miles away. Also discovered in the vehicle was an unrestrained one-year-old child who was taken into protective custody and later released to Child Protective Services.
Hillis and Dunston were arrested for Rendering Criminal Assistance 1. All three will face a judge sometime this week on multiple charges.
