Business associations recommend removing merchandise
Mayor Lynne Robinson again signed a civil emergency order establishing a curfew for downtown Bellevue due to continued threat of public disturbances and looting/vandalism in the area. The new curfew will be in place effective 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, to 5 a.m., Thursday, June 4, and then each remaining day from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the morning of Saturday, June 6. The city will assess further measures Saturday.

The Bellevue Downtown Association and the Chamber of Commerce are recommending businesses remove merchandise as they are able and secure windows and doors to prevent entry, looting and property damage for the duration of this curfew order.
The curfew order states that no person – with the exception of law enforcement and other emergency response personnel, government officials and authorized media – shall enter or remain in the public right of way, public parks or any other public place as bounded approximately on the west by 100th Avenue Northeast, on the south by Main Street/Southeast First Street, on the east by 120th Avenue Northeast/Northeast First Street and on the north by Northeast 12th Street (map).
The general curfew shall not apply to individuals traveling directly to and from work, experiencing homelessness, fleeing dangerous circumstances or seeking necessary medical services for themselves or a family/household member.
The mayor declared a civil emergency in Bellevue on Sunday, May 31. A civil emergency order has also been in effect since Monday, prohibiting possession of weapons, with the exception of firearms, with intent to cause harm downtown and in other commercial areas in Bellevue (map). The order limits the discharge of firearms in these areas, consistent with the constitutional right to defend oneself or others.
