As part of its "Building for Culture" investment in arts facilities around the county, King County is providing more than $2.7 million in capital improvement grants to Bellevue institutions.
Fundraising for the Tateuchi Center, a performing arts facility planned for downtown, was awarded a $1.2 million grant. KidsQuest Children's Museum received a $1 million grant to help pay for renovations to a downtown building that will be its new home next year.
"Bellevue's arts organizations contribute in countless ways to the rich, textured fabric of our community," said Paul Manfredi, chair of the Bellevue Arts Commission. "Thanks to King County and 4Culture, arts opportunities in Bellevue continue to expand and enrich the lives of residents and visitors."
Other grants to Bellevue institutions include:
- $400,000 for Pacific Northwest Ballet's Bellevue ballet school;
- $75,000 to upgrade Bellevue Youth Theatre's Ivanhoe practice space; and
- $50,000 to Music Works Northwest, a nonprofit community music school, for additions to their new building including studio space, music therapy offices and sound proofing.
By leveraging lodging tax revenues, King County was able to announce in November a one-time investment of $28.4 million in capital improvement grants to 100 arts organizations countywide.
