Also, Bellevue recognized with "Tree City USA Award"
Set to develop an affordable housing strategy, the City Council Monday approved $75,000 for consultant assistance on the project. Staff provided the council with an update of the city's housing needs assessment and obtained affirmation of project goals for this year's work program. The consultant will be paid out of the city's Housing Trust Fund.
Over the next several months, staff will work with the council to:
- appoint a technical advisory group;
- conduct extensive public outreach;
- evaluate potential actions; and
- provide a report of an affordable housing strategy for implementation.
Bellevue to celebrate Arbor Day-Earth Day April 16
In honor of Bellevue's commitment to environmental stewardship, Mayor John Stokes declared April 16 Arbor Day-Earth Day, and invited residents to plant trees. As they have on Arbor Day-Earth Day for many years, more than 300 volunteers will plant native vegetation, remove invasive plants and improve trails at Bellevue parks.
For the 25th consecutive year the National Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Bellevue as a "Tree City USA."
