Teamwork and quick-thinking store clerk lead to arrest
On Thursday, July 9, teamwork between the Redmond and Bellevue police and a quick-thinking 7-11 employee resulted in the arrest of a 23 year old Woodinville man for armed robbery. The robbery occurred in the afternoon of July 8, 2015 at the 7-Eleven store at 15521 Bel-Red Road.
The robber entered the store, threatened the clerk with a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes. A fast-thinking second employee took cell phone photos of the robber. Those photos were provided to surrounding police agencies, which led to an off-duty Redmond police officer spotting the suspect in a Redmond grocery store the following morning.
The suspect was arrested without incident on an active Department of Corrections arrest warrant and the subsequent Bellevue Police investigation tied him to the robbery. Evidence related to the robbery was recovered from the suspect. Charging documents will be submitted to the King County Prosecutors Office today, and the suspect remains in custody at the King County Jail.
