The public is invited to learn more about the new Fire Station 10 at a community meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Bellevue Public Safety Training Center, 1838 116th Ave. NE (map and directions).
During the meeting, the Bellevue Fire Department along with city staff will provide information and answer questions about the city's newest fire station, including the site selection process, potential impacts for the community, and next steps in the process. Residents will also learn how they can become involved with the design process of their new fire station.
Fire Station 10 will be on the west side of 112th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 12th Street, north of McCormick Park. Six key criteria were used to evaluate potential fire station sites. These included:
- response time/coverage;
- site access and traffic impacts;
- Medic 1 freeway access;
- cost to acquire, develop and operate;
- site configuration; and
- land use impacts.
The 112th Avenue and Northeast 12th Street location is best situated for the Fire Department to provide critical services for Northtowne, Downtown, BelRed and surrounding neighborhoods, including West Bellevue, Northwest Bellevue and Wilburton, while allowing the current nine fire stations to better serve all neighborhoods.
Construction of Fire Station 10 will take place over an 18-month period, and is not expected to begin until 2019.
