The City of Bellevue is considering changes to Bellevue's land use code intended to reduce stormwater runoff from redevelopment and new development. People will have an opportunity to comment on the proposed changes at a public hearing on Sept. 14 at City Hall, 6:30 p.m., in Room 1E-113.

The state requires that cities incorporate low-impact development principles into their land use codes. LID principles minimize impervious surfaces, native vegetation loss and storm water runoff related to redevelopment and new development.
If you are interested in stormwater, development, healthy waters or all three, this hearing is for you.
The land use code changes under consideration include:
- Reducing the amount of allowed impervious surfaces (buildings, walkways, patios, driveways and sport courts) on a lot;
- Modifying tree retention standards by defining and prioritizing significant landmark trees for retention; and
- Allowing landscaping to function as required stormwater facilities.
The hearing will be before the Planning Commission. The commission will consider public input when it makes a recommendation to the City Council regarding the proposed land use code changes.
