Today (Monday, November 17) City Manager Brad Miyake announced that the city will go back out for a targeted recruitment for the city's next police chief.
On October 22 and 23, the city invited five police chief candidates to meet with city employees, City Council, community leaders and the public. These interviews came after months of community outreach.
After reviewing all the interview feedback from the public and city employees, including a look at how these candidates would fit with the community, Leadership Team, Police Department and overall organization, the city manager concluded that the city will not extend a final offer to any of the candidates.
The city will launch a new recruitment soon. Interim Chief Jim Montgomery will continue on while we launch the next recruitment.
Thank you to those in the community who participated in the process, either by providing feedback on the desired leadership attributes, experience and skills, or by attending the public open house. We hope you will engage with the city in the next recruitment cycle.
