City Manager Brad Miyake has appointed two deputies to help him carry out City Council policies, working closely with community members, regional partners and city staff.
The council hired Miyake as city manager in April, following an 11-month period as interim manager.
Miyake officially appointed Kate Berens to serve as deputy city manager. Berens had served in an interim capacity since May 2013. Previously, she was Bellevue's deputy city attorney, as well as a legal planner in the Planning and Community Development Department.
"Kate is a terrific leader, collaborator and strategic thinker who has proved herself on several important projects," Miyake said. "Her broad experience will help the city navigate the challenging and complex issues facing Bellevue today and in the future."
Miyake has also hired Pam Bissonnette to serve as an interim deputy city manager. She started work on September 5. Bissonnette worked for the city for 18 years, including a prior stint as deputy city manager, along with service as Utilities Department director, Human Resources director and fire chief. After leaving in1996, Bissonnette served in executive positions in King County government.
City officials have launched a nationwide search to fill the interim position with a permanent deputy. A job announcement has been posted online and will close on October 10. It can also be accessed through the citys mobile application, MyBellevue.
