The City of Bellevue has hired a consultant to conduct an independent technical analysis of the Energize Eastside project and is inviting input from the public. Questions, comments and materials should be submitted via email before 5 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015, to Ask the Consultant. The email link also can be accessed on the city's electrical facilities planning, engagement web page.
Energize Eastside is Puget Sound Energy's proposed project to locate new, higher-capacity (230 kilovolt) electrical transmission lines in Bellevue and the Eastside.
City staff will provide the questions and comments to the consultant, Utility Systems Efficiencies (USE), which will document the questions and respond to them in a written report. USE has been working since December 2014 to analyze and respond to questions regarding PSE's growth projections and electric load needs for Bellevue and the Eastside. The consultant's work will provide important information to city decision makers and the public.
Objectives of USE's work include understanding the purpose and timing of proposed electrical system changes in Bellevue, evaluating forecast growth and timing for delivery of improvements to meet the growth, and assessing impacts to electrical system reliability.
USE is expected to complete its work by late February and forward a draft report to the City Council for consideration at a future meeting, possibly in March.
