Sound Transit invites the community to a 2 Line opening celebration on Saturday, April 27. A full day of activities will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with local and regional leaders at the Bellevue Downtown station at 10 a.m. Following the ribbon-cutting, the first trains will be available to ride at each station at approximately 11 a.m.

    Getting to the event:

    • There will be limited parking downtown, so taking public transit to the event is highly encouraged. King County Metro will offer shuttle service from the South Bellevue Station parking garage to Downtown Bellevue station, 8:30-11 a.m.
    • If you need ADA accommodations to attend the event, Sound Transit encourages you to RSVP by April 12.

    Festivities along the 2 Line:

    • From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., enjoy festivities at each of the eight new stations with partners like the Pacific Science Center, Bellevue Downtown Association, Eastrail Partners, Meta, Wright Runstad, BelRed Arts District, and Microsoft. Plus, if you visit all eight stations you have the chance to win exciting prizes through the Discover.Stamp.Win! passport. To find out more about the opening day activities at each station visit: soundtransit.org/discover2line/events

Bellevue firefighters will visit the stations. Riders will also see police officers from the newly formed Bellevue Light Rail Unit (BLU), who have worked closely with Sound Transit in preparation for the opening of the 2 Line.

    Riding the 2 Line:

    • Sound Transit station ambassadors will be at each station to help riders purchase fares and navigate the system.
    • The easiest way to pay for your ride on the 2 Line is with an ORCA card. Visit Sound Transit’s How to pay page for more fare and pass options.
    • Remember that all youth 18 and younger ride free and can access a free ORCA card at FreeYouthTransitPass.com.
    • For those eligible, reduced fares are also available through the ORCA Lift program.
