Bellevue firefighters responded Monday morning to a report of a vehicle that crashed into the living room of an apartment in the 16200 block of NE 13th Place.
Units arrived at 8:07 a.m., within three minutes of the 911 call, to find a small SUV that had jumped the curb and gone through the front window of a ground floor apartment. Two residents were asleep in a back bedroom and were able to leave the apartment building without injury. The driver of the vehicle also was uninjured.
Bellevue Police interviewed witnesses and the driver. Structural engineers with the city's Development Services Department inspected the temporary shoring constructed by the Fire Department to make sure it could support tenants of the second floor apartment.
American Red Cross workers assisted the tenants with temporary housing while repairs are made to the apartment building. A damage estimate is not yet available.
