Residents of 100 units at the Woodland Commons apartment complex, on the 13700 block of Northeast 11th Street, will be told to boil their water for drinking after a water main break Monday, July 6, which may have allowed contaminants to enter the system.
The boil-water notice, effective for 24 to 48 hours, is a being issued out of an abundance of caution. All affected units will receive communication of the need to boil their water before water service is restored and are being provided drinking water.
Residents experienced a loss of water after an 8-inch water main broke at the complex on Monday. Bellevue Utilities crews have been on site and expect to have repairs completed and water restored by 9 a.m., Tuesday. The new main will be flushed of contaminants and a water samples will be gathered and tested to ensure that the water is safe to drink.
Residents may use water for bathing purposes but any water used for cooking, cleaning dishes or brushing teeth should be boiled. Water should be boiled briskly for one minute and allowed to cool before use.
