City taking input on proposed land use code updates at Feb. 23 open house
For more than 15 years, BelRed has been transforming into a vibrant, connected neighborhood with new housing, jobs, light rail access and a thriving arts district. Community members are invited to learn about proposed code changes that will support BelRed’s future evolution at an open house Monday, Feb. 23.
In 2024, the City of Bellevue adopted the BelRed Subarea Plan, updating the vision for BelRed to ensure it keeps pace with the city’s growth while evolving into a one-of-a-kind artistic, creative and cultural destination.
The next step is the BelRed Look Forward Land Use Code Amendment. This update will turn the vision into action by creating tools and standards that support housing and job growth, transit-oriented development, affordable housing strategies, street improvements, stream restoration and the BelRed Arts District.
The open house will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Highland Community Center. This is a drop-in event, and the community is welcome to come at any time to ask questions and share priorities. Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is encouraged but not required.
At this event, you’ll see the neighborhood district map, learn about amenity incentives for development and get a chance to see the local street map and connectivity information. Your feedback will help shape BelRed’s future as a lively, welcoming neighborhood for everyone.
At EngagingBellevue.com/belred-luca, community members can learn more and use interactive options to share their priorities and the kinds of features they want in different parts of BelRed.
