The first Startup Weekend Bellevue, an opportunity for potential entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into action and pitch the concepts to a panel of judges, will take place Oct. 24-26. It starts Friday at City Hall and ends Sunday at Bellevue College.
Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event intended to draw a range of designers, developers, entrepreneurs and experts. Teams will form based on the top ideas generated by the attendees, then work intently to further these ideas and create a business model. The weekend ends with presentations to local leaders with venture capital and startup backgrounds, with an opportunity to receive awards.
More information about Startup Weekend Bellevue, including costs, schedules, speakers, judges and mentors, is available online.
Startup Weekend Bellevue is organized by Startup Bellevue, an organization that provides resources for startups in the city. The events are being hosted by the City of Bellevue and Bellevue College.
Startup Weekend Bellevue is part of a wider economic development effort by the city to encourage a creative and entrepreneurial environment. In September, a Tech Hive event was held at City Hall for entrepreneurs and venture capital investors. The City Council also has targeted innovative startups as part of its vision for the future.
