Sound Transit’s contractor will close all lanes of Bellevue Way Southeast between the "Y" at 112th Avenue Southeast and Interstate 90 starting at 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, through 9 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 18. All ramps between Bellevue Way Southeast and I-90 will be also be closed. See details in Sound Transit’s Nov. 15 construction alert.

This is the last scheduled weekend closure for this year in a series of weekend closures that began in June for utility work.

During this weekend’s closure, local access will be maintained to all residential driveways along Bellevue Way Southeast. Emergency access will also be maintained. Commuters are asked not to drive through neighborhoods to reach their destination. Drivers can detour to I-90 and I-405 via 112th Avenue and Southeast Eighth Street.

For the week of Nov. 20-24, weekday and daily/overnight lane closures will occur as needed on Bellevue Way. The northbound lanes of 112th Avenue Southeast between Bellevue Way and Southeast 15th Street are expected to open to traffic by Monday, Nov. 20, and will remain open between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day.

Phase 2 of construction to build the guideway adjacent to Bellevue Way Southeast is expected to begin in January. The maintenance of traffic plan allows for this work to take place on 10 weekends during 16 months. No full closures are anticipated during this phase of construction but construction schedules often change.

During the weekend work, the contractor is allowed to work 7 a. m. to 9 p.m.; Bellevue Way will be reduced to one lane each direction. During weekdays, Bellevue Way will maintain two lanes in the peak direction during peak commute times:

    • Two lanes in the northbound direction in the a.m. with one southbound lane open
    • Two lanes in the southbound direction in the p.m. peak with one northbound lane open

Construction schedules are subject to change. For the most current information, contact:
