Speed, Impairment Suspected
BELLEVUE, Wash. -- Last night shortly after 10:00 p.m., Bellevue Police and Fire responded to a reported single vehicle rollover traffic crash in the 5200 block of Highland Drive. When responders arrived, they found a vehicle in the middle of the roadway that had rolled onto its' roof. One of the passengers was trapped in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and required heavy rescue extrication equipment from the Bellevue Fire Department to be removed from the vehicle. That passenger was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries. There were three other occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, that sustained minor injuries.
The driver, an 18 year-old Bellevue resident, was interviewed by investigators at the scene. The three passengers in the vehicle were 18, 17, and 16 year-old Bellevue residents, and were interviewed and released. Investigators believe that speed and drugs or alcohol were factors in this crash. Police investigators will complete their investigation over the coming days and once completed, will submit the investigation to the King County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.
