For the first time, the city of Bellevue is conducting a survey of businesses in the city. The short questionnaire is another benchmark in the city's long history of engaging residents and stakeholders for direct feedback. The survey began in late September and is scheduled to conclude later this month.
"This survey is a valuable tool to provide our economic development team with a better idea of how we can support, retain and grow businesses in the community," said City Manager Brad Miyake. "We hope to continue to offer opportunities for the full spectrum of businesses; from small startups to global corporations."
The survey is a key part of the city's Business Retention and Expansion program to promote a healthy and vibrant business climate in Bellevue. The objectives of the program include:
- Establish a sustained program that promotes a supportive business climate in Bellevue to encourage retention and growth of local companies;
- Develop and foster a strong and supportive working relationship with local companies and executives;
- Cultivate and implement a supportive business culture in Bellevue through the Economic Development Action Team, which supports local business growth and retention; and
- Create services and incentives among the regional partners for local businesses to promote business retention and expansion.
The Office of Economic Development and the Finance Department are partnering to conduct the survey, which was designed to gather information on how companies perceive city services, the overall direction of the community and the value received for their tax dollars. Northwest Research Group will conduct the survey on behalf of the city, and will include more than 6,000 businesses. Participants will be able to respond via mail, email or phone.
