Bellevue Police arrested a 38-year-old Bellevue man Thursday morning for investigation of vehicular homicide and felony hit and run for a crash Wednesday night.
At 7:25 a.m., a resident reported they saw a man covered in blood walking around an apartment building near the site of the crash. Officers located the individual, and confirmed that he was the driver of the involved vehicle. Officers arrested the man after a brief struggle.
The suspect was treated at Overlake hospital for injuries he sustained in the crash. He is expected to be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and felony hit and run when he is released from the hospital. His name is not being released at this time as he has not yet been charged with any crime.
At 11:38 p.m. on Wednesday, police went to the intersection of 119th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 60th Street, responding to a report of a vehicle striking a utility box. Officers found a 1992 Lexus LS off the roadway. It had struck a utility box, causing a power outage in the immediate vicinity.
The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. Officers found a 35-year-old Bellevue woman dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the King County Medical Examiner.
