The City of Bellevue is recruiting new members for the Bellevue Equity Advisory and Community Outreach Network (BEACON). Working alongside Bellevue's diverse communities, BEACON advises the city on ways to make programs and services more accessible, equitable and culturally responsive, with a focus on reducing barriers for residents who face the greatest challenges in accessing city services and resources.

Interested candidates may apply online by Friday, Dec. 4.

Members serve on BEACON for a term of two years with a commitment of six hours per month.

Members must:

  • Live, work or study in Bellevue
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of cultural humility and a dedication to collaborating with community members and city staff to create a more inclusive and equitable community
  • Demonstrate an alignment with the city's core value of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Have cultural connections and knowledge of the city’s diverse population
  • Possess a willingness, curiosity and interest in bridging cultural gaps to strengthen community
  • Be able and willing to serve a two-year term

A team of BEACON members and city Diversity Advantage Team staff will interview candidates. The city manager will consider their input in the appointment process.
