The City of Bellevue is welcoming applications from those interested in joining the Bellevue Diversity Advisory Network, which supports and guides the city’s relationships with diverse communities in Bellevue. The application, due by Sunday, Nov. 10, is available in multiple languages and can be completed online. You can also submit the form by email or print and mail it.
BDAN, with members appointed by the city manager, shares feedback and insight with the city manager and city departments on issues relevant to communities in Bellevue to increase equity, access and inclusion.
“The City of Bellevue relies on the members of BDAN to give valuable insights into the needs of the communities they represent,” City Manager Diane Carlson noted. “Their involvement informs our internal decision-making, helps shape how programs and services are delivered and contributes to building a strong bridge between the city and our diverse communities.”
The city is looking to recruit people with a wide array of backgrounds and experience. Applicants must:
- Work or live in Bellevue
- Have cultural connections and knowledge of the city’s diverse population
- Possess a willingness, curiosity and interest in bridging cultural gaps to strengthen community
- Be prepared to volunteer a minimum of six hours a month, including at general network member meetings the last Tuesday of every month and monthly subcommittee meetings
- Be able and willing to serve a minimum of two years on the board.
Applicants can learn more by attending either of two virtual information sessions. Attending an information session is not required to apply.
Bellevue embraces diversity as a major asset that positively impacts the community’s economy, culture and education. In 2014, the City Council adopted the Diversity Advantage Initiative. The council vision guiding the city begins, “Bellevue welcomes the world. Our diversity is our strength.”
