At approximately 2:45 p.m. Bellevue Police Detectives located a 34 year old Bellevue man wanted for two outstanding felony burglary warrants. The burglaries are linked to high-dollar crimes, one of which was the Nordstrom smash burglary which occurred at Bellevue Square on Dec. 28, 2015. Detectives learned of the male while attempting to recover a stolen bicycle. During this attempted recovery, the man fled in a stolen car and a detective suffered minor injuries.
During the standoff, two additional stolen vehicles and a loaded firearms magazine were located in the condo development. The man barricaded himself inside a condo which is located at the 14700 Block of NE 31 St. Given the nature of the crime and the possibility of the man being in possession of firearms, the Bellevue SWAT Team, Crisis Response Team (CRT) and Seattle Police K-9 responded to the scene.
Initially several attempts to contact the male were unsuccessful, however, repeated attempts were eventually successful and the man followed instructions given. The man was safely taken into custody without further incident.
This incident disrupted the ingress/egress of residents who live in the development and out of an abundance of caution, nearby homes were evacuated. The incident came to a close at approximately 7:45 p.m. and residents were allowed return to their homes.
