    The East Bellevue Community Council is accepting applications from residents in the area it represents who are interested in helping formulate statements for and against its existence for a ballot measure.

    The measure, to appear on the Nov. 5 ballot in King County, will ask if voters support or oppose "continuation of the East Bellevue Community Municipal Corporation" (commonly known as the East Bellevue Community Council).

    By state law the EBCC has approval/disapproval authority over certain land-use actions in a part of East Bellevue. The EBCC may also act in an advisory capacity on other land-use issues that directly or indirectly affect its jurisdiction.

    To be eligible for consideration to write the ballot statements, applicants must reside within the corporate limits of the East Bellevue Community Council area. A map with the boundaries is available on the EBCC's web page.

    The "Statement For" and the "Statement Against" (in addition to a rebuttal of the opposing statement) will appear in the King County Local Voters' Pamphlet for the Nov. 5 election.

    To apply, please complete a Community Service Application. Forms may be obtained through the City Clerk's Office or the Service First Desk at City Hall, as well as in the Bellevue Regional Library, the Lake Hills Library and Mini City Hall at Crossroads Shopping Center. You may also request that a form be faxed to you by telephoning 425-452-6466. The city will accept applications in any format.

    Applications must be received on or before May 31 through one of the following means:

    • Hand deliver: City Clerk's Office, 2nd floor of City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE;
