Bellevue's burgeoning arts scene is the inspiration for our latest Lake to Lake TV show. Lorie Hoffman, the city's arts manager, is guest host, offering insights on the new arts district in BelRed, the Bellevue Arts Museum arts fair and the new Piloti sculpture at Downtown Park.
"Arts are a core element of Bellevue's character and a vital element of any well-rounded community," Hoffman notes at the beginning of the episode. "Arts abound here at City Hall, but public art isn't something that should only exist in city facilities. It should also be seen throughout our community and in our daily lives."
In BelRed, Seattle artist Barry Johnson shares his story while he paints a vast mural that literally illustrates the most happening arts scene on the Eastside. At the arts fair, a highlight of the summer downtown, artists talk about connecting to buyers. Hoffman herself takes viewers on a tour of Piloti, the large installation by MARC FORNES/THEVERYMANY that is somehow edgy and accessible at the same time.
Bellevue Television produces Lake to Lake and other programming about the city.
