Bellevues annual Arbor Day-Earth Day Family Festival will be held on Saturday, May 3, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Kelsey Creek Park, 410 130th Place SE. The festivities will include a celebration of the city's 23rd year of being recognized as a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation, a ceremonial tree planting and several volunteer projects.
At 11:30 a.m., the festival digs in with an Arbor Day-Earth Day ceremonial tree planting. The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by VFW Post 2995 and recognition of several volunteers and community groups that support environmental efforts in the community. A prize drawing will take place immediately following the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, there will be free family activities hosted by local environmental stewardship organizations, including eco-demonstrations. Participants of all ages are welcome. Children can get their own Arbor Day-Earth Day Passport from a ranger and journey through various eco-stations. After learning about each station, children can have their passport stamped and completed passports can be presented for a prize.
In addition to the ceremony and Family Festival activities, more than 300 volunteers will participate throughout the morning in park enhancement projects such as planting, trail resurfacing and removing invasive species. The projects will take place at the park and several locations across the city.
Onsite parking is limited and carpooling is encouraged. There will be a free shuttle service available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. from/to the Wilburton Park & Ride, 720 114th Ave SE.
