Program to build neighborhood pride while keeping streets litter-free
The City of Bellevue is launching Adopt-A-Street, a new program of Keep Bellevue Beautiful that partners with the community to maintain Bellevue as a safe and clean city in which to live, work and play.
Adopt-A-Street is a volunteer-driven initiative that encourages individuals, families, businesses and community groups to take an active role in keeping Bellevue streets free from litter. Using a map feature on the Adopt-A-Street page, participants can choose the location and length of street for adoption. By adopting a street, participants commit to pick up litter at least four times per year on their chosen street, for a minimum of two years.
The city will provide participants with safety vests, gloves, trash bags and litter grabbers. Keep Bellevue Beautiful Adopt-A-Street trash bags will be collected by Republic Services free of charge through residential collection and at designated dumpsters.
Over the past year, more than 500 community volunteers have removed nearly 300 bags of litter from city streets during Keep Bellevue Beautiful cleanups. Adopt-A-Street gives everyone an easy way to make a tangible difference in our community. Individuals, businesses and community organizations can contribute to a healthier environment by preventing trash from entering local waterways, protecting wildlife and keeping Bellevue streets safe and clean.
