Bomb cyclone storm impacts

A bomb cyclone windstorm lashed Bellevue the night of Tuesday, Nov. 19, bringing down trees throughout the city and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Most city facilities have power but some are on modified hours or closed due to power outages. Damages from the storm continue to impact Bellevue, prompting the mayor to proclaim a civil emergency in the city. Updates about the city's response will be posted at Bomb Cyclone Storm.

Aug. 12 through Aug. 26, utility installations will require a complete closure of 98th Avenue Northeast between Northeast 18th and 21st streets. These utility installations are part of renovation work at Chinook Middle School.

Between these dates, 98th Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Northeast 19th and 20th Streets will not have access to 98th Avenue during these times. Road closures will be marked with signs. Drivers should plan trips accordingly. Bicyclists and pedestrians should exercise caution when moving through the construction zone.
