The City of Bellevue is launching a pilot program to help home-based childcare businesses in Bellevue thrive. This program represents the city’s commitment to expanding accessible childcare options while supporting local entrepreneurs.
The pilot program aims to:
- Provide new childcare business with tailored small business and entrepreneurship assistance they need.
- Increase the number of childcare spots in Bellevue.
- Explore how the city can reduce barriers for people in caregiving roles participate in the workforce.
This pilot program compliments a program operated by the city’s human services division by expanding the possible small business participants.
Funding for the pilot comes from American Rescue Plan Act funding and is scheduled to run through 2026. Success will be measured by the number of children served by the new childcare businesses.
Request for proposals
The city has issued a request for proposals for a childcare training provider to support the establishment of two home-based childcare businesses in Bellevue. The training partner will guide participants through the necessary certifications and state regulations, ensuring they are fully prepared to serve Bellevue families and workers.
