The first Civic Innovation Challenge launched in 2025, hosted by the city of Bellevue, to address civic challenges and city priorities through design partnerships and proof of concept. Applicants submit their proposal to address a current problem using a technology or business solutions that support city priorities. Each Challenge selects 3-5 participants to pilot their proposal.
Award recipients receive:
- Coaching and mentoring from seasoned entrepreneurs, advisors and investors.
- Design partnership with City of Bellevue staff to help test, optimize and/or refine a product or service.
- Opportunity to showcase solutions for a civic tech audience and build relationships across the innovation ecosystem.
- Up to a $15,000 stipend.
Second Civic Innovation Challenge to launch
The city will announce and launch a second Challenge in 2026. The Civic Challenge will be open to individuals, teams, students, startups and businesses. Applicants will be reviewed and assessed by staff and subject matter experts based on the posted criteria. Please stay tuned for further details.
