Mini City Hall is a neighborhood service center that specializes in personalized customer service, provided by a friendly staff, in 9 different languages and phone interpretation through the Language Line (up to 150 languages). Bellevue College’s Center for Career Connections is a resource for Bellevue residents that seeks to ensure all people are able to find fulfilling work that provides a living wage. The Center directly addresses the needs of the entire community, including: immigrants and refugees, dislocated workers and homemakers, individuals with disabilities, public assistance recipients and other low-income populations, transitioning veterans, underemployed individuals, youth of color, and other groups.
Bellevue College - Preparing for Work helps meet the immigrant community’s need for job and English skills training with vocational and ESL instruction in three classes: Preparing for Work, On the Job Communication, and Working in English. Focus is on oral and written communication, basic computer programs, cross-cultural barriers to job searches and communication, skills to find and keep a job, employer/employee expectations, and promotion of oneself in interviews or work situations.
WorkSource provides a variety of employment resources free of charge including customized employment assistance, career navigation and training resources WorkSource helps with online job search, computers access, training, and workshops and hiring events. One-on-one support is also available to identify individualized training and resources navigation.
YWCA of Seattle-King-Snohomish – Eastside Employment Services provide culturally-specific programs focusing on economic independence & advancement. While inclusive of all, EES centers on Black/African-American communities and those who are structurally positioned furthest from opportunity, offering: career navigation, soft skills, vocational training, financial capability, and job placement/ job retention services.
JFS’ Refugee & Immigrant Services assists with job readiness skills, employment counseling, and job placement and retention support. Comprehensive case management is provided to remove barriers to employment. Additionally, JFS helps meet the needs of resettled refugees who have professional degrees and experience return to their career field. Individualized case management and career guidance is coupled with coaching and support from volunteer mentors.
Hopelink’s Employment Program serves job seekers in north and east King County at or below 200% FPL including homeless and very low-income clients who have a multitude of issues that hinder their ability to seek, secure, and maintain living wage employment for themselves and their families. Support services include career assessment, job search, resume and cover letter writing, job applications, interview preparation, job skills workshops, and job retention.
HERO House Supported Employment Program serves adults with mental illness by using the “Clubhouse” model. We use a work-mediated approach to provide both vocational and social rehabilitation and recovery.
IKRON - Integrated Employment Services combines employment readiness activities (career assessments, interview preparation, resume and cover letter writing), job placement and job sustainment services, with other supports and behavioral health services. Integrating all services under one roof with a wraparound concept to care, facilitates increased quality of care and improved outcomes.
