The City of Bellevue is offering a fun introduction to its newest neighborhood with the Spring District Family Festival Saturday, May 18. Games for kids and adults, live music, food trucks and neighborhood information will be available at the Spring District Plaza, 12167 NE 14th Terrace, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

KidsQuest Children’s Museum will be on site with interactive activities. For older kids and adults, Reality Break Escapes will present portable games and puzzles. Staff from the city’s Transportation, Utilities and Community Development departments will have tables at the festival to share important city resources.

Attendees are encouraged to use sustainable transportation methods, including the new 2 Line light rail (Spring District stop). For information regarding free parking or rail tickets, reach out to Neighborhood Outreach (neighborhoodoutreach@bellevuewa.gov or 425-452-6836).

Lunch will be available to purchase from a variety of food trucks and vendors. For live music, Mambo Cadillac will deliver Latin-flavored tunes while Club Furcula will offer indie rock.

The BelRed neighborhood has transformed dramatically since the city adopted zoning and code changes in 2009 to facilitate transit-oriented development in the former warehouse district. The festival, free and open to the entire Eastside community, showcases the buildings, restaurants and other businesses now in the Spring District, on the western side of BelRed.

There is limited street parking and free parking, with reservations, in the Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) garage. People can also use the park-and-ride lot at the BelRed light rail station and take the train one stop. Finally, the BellHop shuttle is available from downtown.
