Open houses this week will give attendees an opportunity to see how two upcoming projects -- in the Bel-Red area and the Eastgate-Factoria area -- will help to reshape the city's transportation system.
Businesses, neighborhood organizations, property owners and residents are invited to learn about the projects and comment on the look and feel of the proposed designs.
- Spring Boulevard open house: Wednesday, June 24, 4:30-7 p.m., City Hall, Room 1E-108. The open house will include information about Northeast Spring Boulevard, Zone 1, from 116th to 120th Avenue NE, and Northeast Spring Boulevard, Zone 2, from 120th to 124th Avenue NE. Drop by and see the latest plans for this new multi-use roadway (transit, cars, bicycles, pedestrians) in the Bel-Red area, which will work in conjunction with the future East Link light rail project. Attendees also will have a chance to view and comment on some of the urban design features, based on a broader vision for the Bel-Red area. More information is available on the project website.
- Mountains to Sound Greenway Trail open house: Thursday, June 25, 5-7 p.m., Crossroads Bible Church, Fireside Room, 15815 SE 37th St. The open house will provide information about the Bellevue segment of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trail, from Factoria Boulevard to 150th Avenue Southeast. The pedestrian and bicycle trail project in Bellevue along Interstate 90 eventually will fill a gap in the much longer regional trail that stretches 100 miles from Seattle to Central Washington. Open house attendees can see the current design and landscaping plans for the proposed trail, as well as for improvements on Southeast 36th Street, from Factoria Boulevard Southeast to Allen Road. The project website offers additional information.
