King County and several Eastside cities, including Bellevue, are planning for the future of the Eastside Rail Corridor. They are inviting public to a series of open houses to learn about options and provide feedback.
The Eastside Rail Corridor is part of a 42-mile rail line formerly owned by the BNSF Railway Company. King County, several cities and other public agencies have come together to preserve and plan for its future as a multi-use corridor extending from Renton to Snohomish. Open houses are scheduled for three Eastside cities, and online:
- Bellevue open house: Monday, Oct. 12, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cherry Crest Elementary School, 12400 NE 32nd St., will cover the corridor's Central Segment, from Interstate 90 in Bellevue to 108th Avenue Northeast in Kirkland;
- Renton/Woodinville open houses: In Renton, the open house will address the corridor's south segment, Tuesday, Oct. 13, 5 to 7 p.m., at Renton High School, 400 S. Second St. A third open house, about the corridor's north segment, is set for Wednesday, Oct. 14, 5 to 7 p.m., at 21 Acres Center, 13701 NE 171st St., Woodinville; and
- Online open house: The online open house will run from 8 a.m. Oct. 19, to midnight Nov. 12.
King County is completing a Trail Master Plan to develop the new regional trail, which will pass through Renton, Bellevue, Kirkland, Woodinville and portions of unincorporated King County.
