The public is invited to help kick off planning for the area surrounding the future East Main light rail station at an open house on Tuesday, October 28, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at City Hall conference room 1E-108.
Station area planning is a city program -- completely separate from Sound Transit's station design -- that focuses on preparing for the addition of light rail to the areas surrounding each of Bellevue's six East Link stations. Community input will form the basis for each station area plan.
In August the City Council appointed 11 residents and business owners from the East Main Street area to an East Main Citizen Advisory Committee, which will help create a plan to integrate light rail into the area surrounding the station that will be on 112th Avenue just south of Main Street.
The East Main CAC work with city staff and the community to identify opportunities and concerns in the East Main station area plan.
Those who attend the October 28 open house will be asked to contribute ideas to help shape the vision for the East Main area. Anticipated topics include:
- Current and future neighborhood character;
- Neighborhood access, traffic and parking;
- Pedestrian, bicycle and transit connections to the station; and
- A vision for the future development of the east side of 112th Avenue Southeast.
