Building on a history of providing environmental education programs to area schoolchildren, the City of Bellevue will offer a Natural Resource Family Day on Saturday, June 8, at Lewis Creek Park.
For years Bellevue Parks has offered programs on Natural Resource Week to area fourth and fifth graders. The new event, an expansion of the popular school program, will be 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the park, 5808 Lakemont Blvd. SE.
Visitors can discover the secrets of our local wildlife, history, forests and wetlands. Families are invited to walk the trails and learn from naturalists about the area's natural resources at many learning stations set up throughout the park.
Natural resource professionals, naturalists and academics from the Eastside Heritage Center, Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, Eastside Audubon, The North Cascades Institute and Wolf Haven International will be nestled at the stations throughout the park, with activities to engage visitors with the local wildlife, history, forests and wetlands.
