With only a few classical music venues on the Eastside, many residents have been looking for more opportunities to attend vocal and instrumental music concerts closer to home.
Starting October 17, free public performances will be held on the third Friday of each month, 7-8 p.m., (except in December) through May 2015 at Crossroads Community Center, 16000 NE 10th St. Bellevue Parks & Community Services is partnering with Ladies Musical Club of Seattle (LMCS) to provide the one-hour, professional music programs. No advance tickets are required.
"This is a great fit for us because it's a great way to expand music here in Bellevue and especially in the Crossroads area," says community services supervisor Vicki Drake.
LMCS is Seattle's longest-running musical organization, founded in 1891. The group is committed to providing vocal and instrumental classical music for the public to enjoy and interactive music experiences for students in underserved schools.
The group also provides free concerts at Seattle Art Museum, Frye Art Museum, Downtown Seattle Library, West Seattle Library, Ballard/Alki Oddfellows Hall, Mirabella and University House/Wallingford. Crossroads Community Center is its newest and only Eastside venue.
