The community is invited to attend the eighth annual Lake Hills Blueberry Festival, a celebration of back-to-school, support services and the area's robust blueberry harvest, on Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Lake Hills Elementary School, 14310 SE 12th St.
"I look forward to this event every year," said Mayor Claudia Balducci. "It's a great opportunity for neighbors to meet and connect with each other, the school and local service providers. These connections allow the Lake Hills community to be a part of the school and the school to be a part of the community -- and ultimately for kids to thrive."
Students at Lake Hills Elementary and their families benefit from Wrap-Around Services, a collaboration between the city, the Bellevue School District and United Way of King County to support families and promote a healthy community through a single access point in public schools. Services include academic support, mentoring, recreation, mental health services and dental care for youth, plus parenting workshops, English language and crisis support for families.
The event will feature a free hot dog lunch and family activities including:
- Live music, games, arts and crafts and face painting;
- Assistance and information about a variety of human services programs from local service providers; and
- Visits from Bellevue firefighters and police.
Parking is limited, so walking, riding the bus or carpooling is encouraged. The event is sponsored by Wrap-Around Services and Macy's, in partnership with the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association.
