The community is invited to the Lake Hills Blueberry Festival, which celebrates local children's return to school, support services and the area's blueberry harvest, on Saturday, Sept. 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at Lake Hills Elementary School, 14310 SE 12th St.
"The Blueberry Festival is a great event that brings the community together," said Mayor John Stokes. "Our Wrap-Around Services program is all about making support accessible by connecting students and families at Lake Hills Elementary with resources from the city, Bellevue School District and United Way of King County."
Services include academic support, mentoring, recreation and mental health services, plus parenting workshops, English language and crisis support for families.
Now in its ninth year, the event will feature a free hot dog lunch and family activities including:
- Live music, games, arts and crafts and face painting;
- Assistance and information about a variety of human services programs from local service providers;
- Visits from Bellevue firefighters and police; and
- Blueberry pies for sale.
Parking is limited, so walking, riding the bus or carpooling is encouraged. The event is sponsored by Wrap-Around Services, in partnership with the Lake Hills Neighborhood Association.
